Course description

Oracle Database: Introduction to SQL introduces students to the essential concepts of relational database engines.Participants gain a deep understanding of database design models, table relationships, and data isolation strategies.

The course covers everything from simple data extraction to complex multi-table execution routines, including advanced relational joins, nested subqueries, data filtering configurations, and built-in text or arithmetic data customization tools.

Beyond core reading queries, students gain practical knowledge in modifying live relational tables using Data Manipulation Language (DML) commands, constructing actual database architectures using Data Definition Language (DDL) controls, managing access constraints, and processing isolated transactional runtime blocks using safe savepoints.

This workshop equips students with the foundational coding skills required to manage, extract, and manipulate enterprise business intelligence datasets, preparing them directly for advanced Oracle database administration and data engineering pathways.

What will i learn?

  • Construct Relational Database Queries: Write single-row, multi-row, and nested SQL operations using logical clauses (WHERE, GROUP BY, HAVING, ORDER BY) to accurately filter, extract, and aggregate enterprise structural data.
  • Design and Control Schema Structures: Formulate operational database architectures using DDL statements to build tables, set up data types, map out primary and foreign tracking keys, and implement strict operational data integrity constraints.
  • Manipulate Datasets and Secure Transactions: Execute row-level modifications using DML tools (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) while utilizing transaction control commands (COMMIT, ROLLBACK) to protect data safety during multi-step application actions.

Requirements

  • Basic Computer Literacy: Familiarity with installing desktop software and running text operations in a command-line interface or system terminal workspace.
  • Fundamental Logic Thinking: Basic comprehension of data categorization, spreadsheet manipulation rules, and entry-level algebraic variables.
  • Workspace Software Environment: Access to a computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux to install tools like Oracle SQL Developer and connect to a local or cloud-hosted database container.

Frequently asked question

While the lab execution and syntax focus directly on the Oracle Database engine and utilities like SQL Developer, SQL is an industry-standard language. The core querying principles, table relationship layouts, and command logic you learn here are directly applicable to other Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Yes. This curriculum directly maps to the core objectives required to pass the official Oracle Database SQL Exam (1Z0-071), which earns you the professional credential of an Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate.

Not at all. This course is built for absolute beginners in database languages. SQL is a declarative querying system designed to read like standard English sentences, making it highly accessible to students without any computer science or software programming background.
